Sessions 1983

The 1983 Sessions feature Hugo de Bruin on vocals,guitars and keyboards, Guus Willemse on bass and vocals, Nick Oosterhuis on keyboards, guitars and vocals, and Kim Weemhoff on drums.

Bassplayer and singer Guus Willemse is best known for his work with Solution but he also released some solo-singles as ‘Gus Williams’ and had a hit with the song ‘Canyon to Canyon’. Solution made 7 Albums for Elton John’s record label Rocket, produced by Gus Dudgeon. In the 80ties and 90ties he played in a lot of other bands and wrote and recorded many tracks for other artists records, including Jim Capaldi from Traffic, Genesis guitar player Steve Hacket, Erykah Badu and Gary Moore. Jim Capaldi also co-produced one of the solution albums. Guus is the owner of the publishing company Solutionmusic.
Guitar player and singer Hugo de Bruin began his professional career when he joined Diesel as their lead guitarist in 1980. Diesel is best known for their big hit Sausalito Summer Nights, which reached the top 25 in the US Billboard Hot 100. Late 1984 Hugo joined the Time Bandits who had loads of hits in the Netherlands and abroad. From 1990 to 1991 he played guitar with Ten Sharp, who had a world-wide hit with their hit single ‘you’ Some 20 million copies were sold. 
Kim Weemhoff started his career as a drummer when he was 18 , joining , also playing with Hugo the Bruin on guitar , Dutch rockband Diesel with which he toured The US and Canada in 1980 to promote their big hit Sausolito Summer Nights. After a couple of years of rocking Kim joined Candy Dulfer’s band Funky Stuff to play their 3 hour shows of energetic steaming groove music.
Keyboardist and guitar player Nick Oosterhuis, as a young teenager, gained a reputation for his remarkable ability to switch from one instrument to another with equal levels of virtuosity. In 1982, Nick recorded his first solo album under the pseudonym Chris Garner. On this record he performed with the Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestra and some of the finest German, Dutch and British musicians. A re-release on CD appeared 2011 under his own name, titled: The Mysterious Disappearance of Mr. Garner. Nick participated in countless records , producing, performing and/or writing, for many major artists: Bobby Kimball from Toto, Wanda Jackson, Tony Christie, Vicky Leandros , Matthias Reim , Andrew Strong from the Commitments and many others. He has also released several solo singer songwriter and instrumental albums with ambient and solo piano music.
In 1983 Hugo met Nick Oosterhuis, who had a project studio near Rotterdam. Plans were made to record some of their original material over the period of a week. Kim was asked to play the drums and much to Hugo’s surprise, a few days later Guus Willemse agreed to participate in the project! 

That is how the 1983 sessions came to be.
